Guelph Kids Guide was created in late 2015 by four Guelph parents - Erica Blunn, Adrian Drysdale, Julia Drysdale, and Agnieszka Mazurek-Pereira. We were discussing how many great local activities were only discovered through word of mouth from other mums. To fix this problem, we decided to build an online resource for Guelph parents to have easy access to information about all of the amazing free and paid pop-in activities, courses and special events available in our city.
GKG believes that attending activities, classes and events regularly is very beneficial to both parents and their children. Getting out to socialize, network and play builds a strong community.
I grew up in Guelph. I spent many years working in customer service and restaurants as a trained chef. When I had my son I had to adjust to a new and exciting life. I found it difficult and time consuming looking for programs to take my son to. Eventually through word of mouth i found some amazing programs and groups. Through those groups and programs I was able to meet life long friends for myself and my son. I found that they were informative and fun, with priceless memories and experiences.
I thought that it was frustrating and sad that so many moms were looking for these programs and they were difficult to find or hear about. That's when we thought it would be great to have one site with all the programs available on it where moms, dads guardians can come and spend a short time picking out what suits their families and not miss out on great people and experiences.
